FISH CALENDAR

WHAT'S IN THE RIVER, MONTH BY MONTH

Every fish keeps its own schedule. Pick the month, and you've picked the fish. Here's the year at a glance.

Part of the month

How to read it: each row is a fish, each column is a month. A solid fish means it's in the river and worth chasing that whole month. A faded fish means the run only covers part of it. Steelhead start showing up late in September, and salmon taper off in early October. Fall is when the calendar fills up, with steelhead and salmon in the same water. Not sure when to come? Call and ask. The guides will tell you what's biting.

BRIGGS

FISHING THE ROGUE SINCE 1930

Guided trips with Briggs on the Wild and Scenic Rogue started in 1930. The river has been the work, and the classroom, ever since.

Every angler is welcome. Swing flies for winter steelhead, or boat a first salmon on gear. Traditional drift boats give a comfortable ride and the best platform for putting people on fish.

The same boats run scenic days on the Owyhee, the Salmon, and the Rogue for guests who want the canyon with a rod left in the boat. Clients, friends, and kids all fit.

You go out with a guide who has fished the Rogue for years. The motto is simple: there is no better day than a day spent in the drift boat.

Orange Torpedo Trips logo

ORange Torpedo Trips

Orange Torpedo Trips began guiding in 1969, putting guests on the oars and in inflatable kayaks across Oregon and Idaho.

Inflatable Kayak invented

The signature torpedo inflatable kayak put paddlers closer to the water and became the heart of an Orange Torpedo trip.

Briggs Rogue River logo

Briggs purchased

Briggs Rogue River Trips joined the family, bringing a guided-fishing tradition on the Rogue that began in 1930.

Whitewater Cowboys logo

Whitewater Cowboys

Whitewater Cowboys joined next: raft and kayak rentals, river shuttles, and gear run by people who row these rivers themselves.

Orange Tours started

The three outfitters now share one booking home, so fishing, rafting, and do-it-yourself trips sit side by side.

Our philosophy

A seasoned guide, a traditional drift boat, and a day built around the fish. If you came for the canyon instead, that trip is here too.

Rivers we fish

The Wild and Scenic Rogue is home water. Scenic drift trips also run the Owyhee and the Salmon.

Since 1930

Nearly a century of guided trips on the Rogue. The tradition still starts in a drift boat, with a guide who knows the holds.

Drift boats

A comfortable, exciting ride, and the best platform for finding fish — swinging flies or fishing gear.

Lodge to lodge

Multi-day Rogue fishing that moves between riverside lodges, so the days stay on the water and the nights stay simple.

Every angler

Avid fly fishers and first-time salmon anglers share the same boat. Bring clients, friends, or kids.
