What to Bring on a River Day Trip

A simple packing list for our half-day and full-day rafting and kayaking trips, plus the few extras each trip calls for.

What to Bring on a River Day Trip

Day trips need less than most people think. Run through this list the night before, wear the first group of items to the shop, and leave the rest in the car. The trip notes at the bottom cover the few extras each trip calls for.

Wear to the river

  • A swimsuit, or synthetic shorts and a top (no cotton)
  • A sun shirt or synthetic top
  • Sandals that strap on, or water shoes
  • A hat. A ball cap fits under a helmet
  • Sunglasses with a strap

Bring with you

  • A water bottle with a carabiner to clip it to the boat
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Spare dry clothes for the takeout
  • Any personal medications
  • A camera, only if it has really good waterproofing

Leave at home

  • Cotton clothing
  • Crocs and flip-flops, which fly off in the water
  • Floating water toys
  • Valuables

What we bring for you

  • A dry bag for the small stuff on Rogue day trips
  • A wetsuit and splash top on the North Umpqua, plus booties if your shoes won't work
  • Sunglass straps for sale at our Rogue shop if you forget yours
