Eligibility & Safety

Essential eligibility requirements, safety practices, guide training, and age/health guidance per trip class.

Essential Eligibility Requirements

Every guest on an Orange Torpedo trip needs to meet a set of physical and mental criteria so the whole group can enjoy the river. Here is the short version.

  • Swim in whitewater and swift current while wearing a PFD, and take an active part in your own rescue.

  • Get in and out of the boat four to ten times a day, on your own or with help from a companion.

  • Follow your guides' verbal and non-verbal instructions, even in stressful moments.

  • Manage your own personal care, medications, food, water and clothing, on your own or with a friend or family member.

  • We make reasonable modifications so more people can join, as long as they don't fundamentally change the trip or significantly increase its risks.

Safety practices

  • Guide training & certifications

  • Equipment standards (PFDs, boats)

  • Weather / flow decision protocol

  • Emergency & evacuation procedures

  • Private rental safety briefing
