Outfitting for 30+ years

Whitewater Cowboys

Rogue River raft and kayak rentals, river shuttles, and the same gear the crew uses on their own trips. Bases in Merlin, Oregon and on the Salmon River in Idaho.

What we offer

There are no available Whitewater Cowboys trips at the moment. Try other river trips instead.

WHITEWATER COWBOYS

RENTALS AND SHUTTLES FOR OVER 30 YEARS

For over 30 years Whitewater Cowboys has helped people raft the Rogue River, from the original base in Grants Pass and Merlin to a second base on the Salmon River.

The rentals are the same rafts and kayaks the crew uses on their own trips, for the Rogue, Hells Canyon, and the Salmon. Good equipment is the whole point.

Shuttles are run by people who have stood at a takeout and not found their car. Rogue, Illinois, Salmon, and Hells Canyon shuttles are built so that does not happen to you.

Rogue River Trail hikers are covered too. The crew has hiked the trail, can shuttle the car, and can answer the questions that come up before you start walking.

Orange Torpedo Trips logo

OTT started

Orange Torpedo Trips began guiding in 1969, putting guests on the oars and in inflatable kayaks across Oregon and Idaho.

Inflatable Kayak invented

The signature torpedo inflatable kayak put paddlers closer to the water and became the heart of an Orange Torpedo trip.

Briggs Rogue River logo

Briggs purchased

Briggs Rogue River Trips joined the family, bringing a guided-fishing tradition on the Rogue that began in 1930.

Whitewater Cowboys logo

WWC purchased

Whitewater Cowboys joined next: raft and kayak rentals, river shuttles, and gear run by people who row these rivers themselves.

Orange Tours started

The three outfitters now share one booking home, so fishing, rafting, and do-it-yourself trips sit side by side.

Our philosophy

River runners helping river runners. Good gear, a car that is actually at the takeout, and equipment the crew would take on their own trip.

Rivers we cover

Rogue and Illinois in Oregon. Salmon River and Hells Canyon in Idaho. Day rentals through multi-day wilderness trips.

30+ years

More than 30 years of Rogue River rentals and shuttles, and a second base on the Salmon so Idaho trips get the same standard.

The gear

Rafts and kayaks maintained the way a private boater would want them, because that is who is renting them out.

Shuttles you can trust

Wild and Scenic Rogue, recreation-section day trips, the Illinois, the Salmon, and Hells Canyon. Trail hikers included.

Row your own

Already know how to row? Rent the boat, book the shuttle, and run it yourself, including row-your-own options on the Main Salmon.
